How the certification works

Is the OpenSearch certification really free?
Yes. The exam, the results breakdown and the certificate are all free. There is no paid tier.
Is this an official OpenSearch certification?
No. Neither the OpenSearch Project nor AWS currently offers an OpenSearch certification. This one is issued by BigData Boutique, an independent consultancy whose engineers have run OpenSearch in production for years, and who wrote and fact-checked every question against the official documentation.
Can I retake the exam?
Yes. Each attempt draws a fresh set of questions. If you fall short, the topic breakdown shows exactly where to focus before you try again.
How is the certificate verified?
Every certificate has a unique link on bigdataboutique.com that is cryptographically signed. Anyone opening it sees the holder's name, score and issue date, and it cannot be edited or forged.
Which OpenSearch version is the exam based on?
The current OpenSearch release. Questions are written to reflect the official documentation and apply equally to self-managed OpenSearch and Amazon OpenSearch Service.
